Five-star reviews are not always enough to earn trust

Real-life images, detailed experiences and honest context can help customers assess a product beyond its star rating.

A high star rating may catch a shopper’s attention. But to trust a product and choose it, people may need to see how it works in real life.

According to a Q&Me report published on 24 September 2026, surveying 200 people aged 20–49 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, 69% said photos or videos made reviews more trustworthy. Detailed content was selected by 60%, while star ratings were selected by 51%.

Treat reviews as useful guidance

For brands, reviews are more than a rating section at the bottom of a page. They can also guide customers. A real photograph, a specific use case or even a point of dissatisfaction can help the next shopper understand the product better.

Instead of only encouraging customers to leave stars, invite them to describe the situation in which they used the product, what helped and what could improve. If you want to reuse their photos or videos, ask permission and preserve the original context.

At N-Solutions, we believe trust comes from experiences that feel real enough for shoppers to assess for themselves.

When reading reviews before a purchase, do you trust real-life images or detailed comments more?
